MMU deployed on site

The MMU was recently featured in the Vancouver Sun. The article highlighted our accomplishments since becoming part of PHSA in 2011.

Nearly six years since the 2010 Olympic Games, the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) is in constant demand, deployed to communities all over the province 80 to 200 days a year.

The legacy of the Games has been a stand-in medical unit for hospitals like Kitimat General while under renovation. When the Surrey Memorial Hospital’s emergency department was flooded, the MMU was deployed to treat ER patients.

It’s been used as a medical centre for First Nations communities and for special events like the Whistler Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival and the Canada Winter Games in Prince George.
