This year, for the first time, the MMU will be hosting
the annual Mobile Health Clinics Association Pacific Northwest Coalition in
Canada.
The MMU has been a member and co-lead of the Mobile Health
Clinics Association (MHCA) Pacific Northwest chapter for the past three years.
The organization brings together likeminded health-care focused mobile services
to share knowledge, ideas and experiences with the goal of bettering mobile
health solutions.
The group hosts regional conferences and an
international event each year for all members. At past events, members of the
MMU team have both attended and presented.
Scheduled for April 29, the
conference will include presentations from the MMU team, the MHCA Board Chair,
and BC Cancer Agency Mobile Mammography Screening Program.
In addition to
the presentations and open panel discussion, there will be tours of the MMU, the
new BC Cancer Agency Mobile Mammography unit, and potentially other units, as
well as the opportunity to network with counterparts across BC and the Pacific
Northwest states including Washington and Oregon. The knowledge sharing and
leadership building at past coalitions has helped inspire improvements to both
the MMU program and other participants’ programs.
