While on deployment at Victoria General Hospital (VGH) in October 2015, the Goldstream Gazette came for a tour and spoke with our team about the unit. The MMU visited VGH from October 14 to 22 as part of its annual planned deployment to Island Health.

Kamloops BC Now
July 10, 2015
The unit hosted a Cystic Fibrosis clinic in Kamloops this summer. Clinicians from St. Paul’s Hospital travelled to Interior Health and using the unit as clinic space, provided specialized care to seven patients in their own community.

Thanks to the unit’s flexible clinical space, it can host a variety of clinics and specialized medial outreach, enabling patients across the province to receive care right in their own community. MMU Supports UHNBC During 2015 Canada Winter Games

The MMU has deployed to the University Hospital of Northern BC to provide surge support during the Canada Winter Games. The unit will serve as the hospital's minor treatment area from Februay 13-28, allowing additional space for an increased volume of higher acuity patients in the fixed hospital, should it be required.

 

MMU visits Whistler for Crankworx

August 21, 2014
The MMU was in Whistler Aug 12-18 to support the latter stages of the Crankworx festival. The deployment wrapped up a string of consecutive missions supporting surge during mass gathering events in the province this summer. The set-up in Whistler was also the first time the MMU has provided emergency surgical capability since the 2010 Winter Olympic & Paralympic Games.

Mobile medical unit arrives at PRH in time for Boonstock

The MMU is on the road again, this time in Pentiction. The MMU will be providing surge support to the hospital as a result of anticipated busy August long weekend, with the Boonstock Music Festical in town, expected to draw 8,000 visitors. This is the second of four festival-related deployments for the MMU this summer.

The MMU is on the road again, this time headed to Bella Bella to support surge capacity at the RW Large Memorial Hospital during the Qatuwas "Tribal Journey's" canoe festival, which will welcome thousands of visitors.

The MMU will be arriving in Fernie Friday June 20, and will be open to the public for tours Monday June 23, 1000am-700pm. Come for a tour of the MMU, and see your local hospital staff in action as they participate in continuing clinical education.

Grand Opening of Updated ER in Kitimat

March 19, 2014

The newly updated Emergency Department is now open in Kitimat, and after three and a half months of supporting the renovation in this small, but booming, northern BC community, the MMU has returned to its home base in Delta. The uni is now undergoing annual preventative maintenance and gearing up for another busy year.
